S1 Episode #16 💛 Keep Calm and…Feel those Feelings (yes, ALL of them), says Energy Healer and Counsellor Joanne Bradford [17-min listen]
"If there’s a day when we’re feeling low on energy, or sad or overwhelmed, allow it to be there, knowing that there’s nothing else we need to feel in that moment. That feeling is there for a reason. Whatever’s coming up needs to come up in order to come through, and being with our feelings, accepting our feelings, not beating ourselves up and taking things super gently is extra important right now.”
- Joanne Bradford
Today’s guest is Joanne Bradford, an author, counsellor and emotional-healing practitioner also known as motherheart.
Joanne practises a combination of energetic healing and life coaching to remove blocks, improve connection and help people recharge from within, and throughout Lockdown has been running live daily healing sessions incorporating EFT, meditation and sound healing (and which I can thoroughly recommend - more info in DETAILS below).
In today’s conversation Joanne recommends:
being gentle with ourselves: it’s ok not to know what to do or feel
connecting to nature when feeling overwhelmed
giving ourselves permission to slow down and take rest as needed
prayer and self-reflection as a way to stay centred
asking ourselves: ‘what do I need right now?’ And then actually listening to - and acting upon - the answer
staying in the loop but not getting too attached to news
vigorous exercise a couple of times/week to release tension
using this time to try new healing modalities, classes and teachers
instead of booze, choosing something that lights us up to wind down in the evenings/at weekends

Joanne is currently running daily, 45 minute, online EFT and guided meditation support (low-cost ticket price for all and *free* to anyone who has lost their job as a result of the pandemic.)
Each session fuses Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT, also known as ‘tapping'), guided emotional-clearing meditation work and elements of sound healing frequency.
ABOUT THE KEEP CALM SERIES - March/April 2020
The Keep Calm, Stay Well series is a collection of bite-sized podcasts from Shelf Help featuring our favourite authors and experts sharing their wellbeing strategies, and designed to help us all find some calm amongst the Coronoavirus chaos.
We want Shelf Help to be a resource to help you guys stay calm, positive and present in these challenging times and so are asking the experts how they are staying well mentally, physically and spiritually.
We’re turning around these interviews pretty quickly from our lo-fi barn in Norfolk BUT these conversations are pure HIGH vibes and packed with useful and inspiring information (and the tech is improving daily so we really appreciate your patience so far).
